P.S. to previous – I’m Now Kicking Assets and Taking Names

Trey, good luck on your relaunch – I hope people take advantage of the opportunity – you saved me $1000′s in development costs and months in time to make an App, plus it is top-of-the-line since I pay attention very carefully in class and integrate all of your suggestions. Including the cool Ninja tips.

Hi folks, add me to the list of Trey Smith App school graduates.
My App went live at Itunes on August 24 – probably why Steve Jobs felt
finally confident that Apple would continue to grow when he stepped down.
The course is fantastic, a step-by-step guide, and I had my App done within
6 weeks. Shooting up the charts now in the Financial category with total dominance there as the target.
Check it out http://www.goldlionapps.com
Thank you Trey!!

I wassurprised to learn how quick you made progress in producing apps
Frank gave me the hint about your first try. Are you now forming a new production affiliate (lol)? peter

Trey – every time I read what you write about the potential of apps is very exciting. I was on the call with Laura Betterley and you last week. I’m in – bought the training and here’s the thing

I’m interested in this to work with local businesses

your training so far – has been excellent – but these apps as games etc – just aren’t my bag – I really wish they were and they are not

so where the train is coming off the tracks is how to modify the information so that I can see how this would work with local businesses.

for instance – an app for a local business – probably would be free –

so what do installs cost? Apple can’t do this for free – if there’s no cost to the app – who pays apple and what do they pay?

App programability –

can they stream music?
can they initiate a call back to the business?
can a business send unlimited push notifications – meaning does apple charge for these or are they free up to a certain number?
how can you build the type of network you recommend – if you’re building apps for local businesses – does tactic that even apply?

I’m not even able to assess if this training is even for me – I think it is – but I have these kinds of questions that I can’t find the answers or haven’t
found them yet.

Appreciate your response and would like to learn more about how this applies to local businesses -

Trey,

I enjoy reading your app blog. Ed put me onto it and I’ve taken the leap into developing my first app. Sometimes it’s the littlest things that are a big help (and time saver). I’ve gleamed some valuable tips from here so a big thanks.

Todd.

Hey Trey,

Loving your work so far. I am friends with Darren Hardy of Success Magazine and Ryan Blair of NothingToLose.com and want to speak with you personally about working with you on a project app and or possibly seeing if you could refer me to some good developers to work with. Contact me via email and I will talk to you soon!

Great to see some inspiring case studies, always the proof of a great system and training.
I had somebody question me the other day on what happens to apps when html5 takes off? They were trying to convince me that we will not need apps then? What!!

Hey guys.. i think i have the right people in front of my offer!!!
I would like to know where i could find a person to partner with me to create this app idea that i have. Its been driving me nuts as i have all the parts to this app puzzle of mine but i struggle to find someone to build it. So if your an app coder or you know of a coder… drop me a email.
Ps. i have not discussed this with anyone in detail as i dont want to loose it to a scammer.
looking forward in hearing from you.

I’m looking for some help in designing an app for a simple 4-step process that enables someone to immediately ‘see the perfection and find peace in any situation.’ A Radical Forgiveness app. Thanks.

Wow so many eager developers and cool games! I did things slightly differently since unlike most of Trey’s students I’m actually a developer (though never touched the iPhone before)

So I started developing a game to launch, and also took on a client for an iPhone game, so I can use the income from that to pay for the graphics and promotion on my own apps…

Client game is done, and my first game is due to launch at the end of the month, with 2 more in the pipeline already!

Trey – I’ve watched 2 of your webinars now (awesome stuff BTW) but didn’t buy your course since I figured most of it wouldn’t apply to me.

However, I’m not thinking that it would be worth it just for the marketing side of things. How much of the course relates to outsourcing and development, and how much to marketing and promotion?

Also, are you pulling the course down or will it be available for a while? i.e. if I wait until I have a game or two on the app store, will I be too late?

Hey fellow app junkies. Good news on my keyword research app. It’s been converting steadily over the last two months and is now in the black! I have several more planned but for now this mobile keyword research app for the iPhone is my first successful app launch. I do need to port it to droid so if anyone is interested in a droid programming gig, hit me up at affportal.com.

I’ve just released my game too, but after a couple of days sales are still pretty dead. It’s good that you’re helping your students out. Good luck!

Reply

treysmith August 19, 2011 at 7:18 pm

Hey dude, make it free for 2 days and do a big sale. This will get some action going on the app. If you can, throw in an “upgrade” button or iAds in there.

Nekonron August 19, 2011 at 7:26 pm

Hey Trey, thanks for the tip. I’ll do that after a couple of weeks. Just submitted my app to 10+ sites requesting for a review. Hopefully it’ll get picked up :D

Btw, just checked out the apps you posted. They look great!

Nekonron August 19, 2011 at 8:26 pm

Wow, thanks a lot man! I was actually wondering if the app icon was too boring and plain but everyone tells me it looks good (I had suspicions they were just being polite).

I’ll give your suggestions a go ASAP, although it seems that you can’t change the app’s name unless you submit it as a new app.

Damn, thanks a million Trey! You just gave me renewed hope and confidence :D

treysmith August 19, 2011 at 8:08 pm

Can’t reply below yours because we’re GOING TOO DEEP!

App looks good man!

Here’s what I would do:

1. Rename the app, try to make it something that is more “keyword centric”
2. I would get a better looking icon. That’s SUPER important and yours doesn’t look as good as the screen shots.
3. It took me too long to figure out WHAT the game does. Have
the first screenshow show text that explains the game in 1 sentance.

Nekonron August 19, 2011 at 7:58 pm

That’s be awesome! :D

Please let me know what you think!

I took the information from your initial report (after Kolo’s Journey) and your webinars to do this. I’m actually happy how the game turned out, but sad that it’s not doing well :(

Trey when are you having another live event?

Reply

Nick August 19, 2011 at 3:53 pm

This is pretty neat! Those apps have me fired up to plan something out and have it made! I’m just a lil worried about the people losing money from the people who can pirate the apps. =( I’ll have to look that up.

Reply

treysmith August 19, 2011 at 5:04 pm

Interesting fact I learned last night: People can’t pirate In App Purchases in your app.

Reply

wayne August 20, 2011 at 11:06 am

dude, one of our music app got hacked and people downloaded the remixes for free.

To do this, you’ll need a jailbroken iPhone and SSH installed (to transfer the game and to fiddle with permissions). The theory is a bit techy and complex, but the execution isn’t too insane if you know your way around XCode and the command line.

Reply

treysmith August 20, 2011 at 12:37 pm

Ahh… thanks, was sure about that. I’m not worried about the pirating at all. Typically people who pirate DON’T buy stuff… so it’s pretty pointless worrying about it.

Reply

Glenn August 29, 2011 at 4:18 pm

First intelligent thing I’ve heard anyone say about pirating in a long while! All these mega-$ we are told are lost to pirating is sooooo inflated – it’s based on if the people actual bought it but you are totally correct, generally if they couldn’t pirate it they wouldn’t have bought it anyway; yes you loose a little but not that much. And no, I DON’T pirate and I don’t advocate it and I make negative comments about it to people who do; but it also gets me when the media and companies claim incredible amounts of money lost to pirating. Get real.

wayne August 19, 2011 at 3:05 pm

Cool! We’re about to release an Android game using ideas and techniques from the iphone webinar. We went with Android because that’s what kind of phones we have and don’t own macs.

We have learned a lot from the dev, but we’re missing out on some of the tricks you mentioned as there is not an android market affiliate system. Perhaps it’s time to jump platforms and buy icomputers.
